First step to student loan success–take responsibility

I often times will answer questions on Twitter by seeing what people are talking about and if it’s in my wheelhouse, talk with them.  Most people ignore, some favorite, a couple respond with thanks and occasionally a dialect begins.

And often times it takes you places you don’t want to go.  Such was the case with one person I recently spoke to.  They kept saying in different ways they wanted my help to “overcome this scam system.”

During my years I have spoke to plenty of conspiracy theorists who believe student loans are invented to put and keep people down.  Or believe the government needs to help them or they will never get out.

The first step to having success with your student loans is to take responsibility that they are indeed something you have to deal with.  I have a coworker who to pay off her student loans (over $35,000 worth) she worked open to close every day.  She worked almost 70 hours a week.  And now in less than 18 months she no longer has her loans and she is saving towards a house.

This is not the job she went to school for.  But she took responsibility for her actions and went at it.  And while not everyone can do a 18 month work like a crazy person, you can too create a plan for your life and your loans.  Remember short term sacrifice can mean long term gain.

And if you need a little help along the way with the how, just email me at and I’ll be glad to help!
